    1 Million Euros, $ 950,000, about 20 Bitcoins and over 300 Million Rubles seized from Revil Hackers in Russia

    According to Interfax, police agencies seized 1 million euros, $ 950,000, almost 20 bitcoins and over 300 million rubles of the Reveal hackers detained in the Russian Federation in January during searches.

    Previously, the media reported that all computers and cryptographic wallets used to commit crimes were confiscated, as well as 20 luxury cars bought with money obtained by criminal means of group members.

    Revil participants are suspected of developing and implementing malware, extorting cryptocurrencies, stealing money from foreign citizens’ bank accounts and disbursing them, including buying expensive items.

    A spokesman for the Interior Ministry of Investigation Department stated that the investigators performed more than 50 interrogations and 26 searches during the investigation of the case.

    The technicians of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have also performed or are conducting 16 skills and computer skills. During the searches, a pen drive containing a crypto Wallet containing 19.9 bitcoins was seized with the suspects.

    On January 14, 2022, the Russian Federal Security Service, during a special operation, arrested 14 members of the Revil hacker group. On January 15, 2022, a Moscow court arrested 8 alleged members of the Revil hacker group.

    They were accused in accordance with part 2 of article 187 of the Russian Federation Penal Code (illegal circulation of means of payment). The maximum penalty provided for in this article is seven years in prison.

    On January 21, 2022, the Russian Federal Security Service arrested four alleged members of the Hacker Group The Infraud Organization in Moscow. According to the Attorney General’s Office, all suspects of internet fraud are actively cooperating with the investigation.

    The active actions of Russia’s special services against Revil and The Infraud Organization caused panic and an active discussion about the situation among hacker forum participants. Many of them have decided to lie down, act in hiding, without publicity and change profession for a while.
