The popular AirPods, Apple’s wireless headphones, may well serve as a health device for consumers. According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple intends to invest in new health resources soon. There are already headphones on the market that promise to help you achieve better sleep quality, such as those offered by Philips, but it is expected that the new functions of Apple have more to do with the health of the ear itself. The estimate is that the changes reach consumers within one or two years.
The first job advertised by the company should be related to hearing loss. However, it is not yet known what will be the first feature that Apple will release or how many new features will be available.
It should be noted that AirPods already have a function that can be used for the health of the user. Known as Live Listen, the feature allows a consumer to record audio via a smartphone and play it back on a headset in real time. The technology has been available since the release of iOS 12 in 2018.
At this time, the US Department of Health and Human Services (FDA) does not approve the use of Live Listen. However, according to Bloomberg, it should also be approved in the next few years, along with the new features that Apple promises to release.
