Bemobi Buys M4U & Grows in Microfinance
In its first acquisition since public subscription, Bemobi bought M4U, a tech company that enables mobile phone owners to purchase top-up and payment through a variety of digital channels.
Seeing that the increase in the balance of the cell phone has occurred a lot in the world of materials – the scratch card of the newspapers sold – M4U has made the process of the process and eventually become the main platform of the “white label” used by Brazilian operators to manage RE-filling operations and SO control plans (hybrids between preparation and term payment).
Today’s acquisition is a type of vertical conversion: Bemobi already offers an integrated M4U solution with its systems. With the acquisition, the company will begin processing end-to-end payment transactions.
“For charging customers, the experience will improve. For the operator, a business is starting. For us, the opportunity is to provide an M4U solution to other emerging countries,” said CEO Pedro Riber.
M4U 6 billion Brazilian riyals last year processed its digital platforms. As a result of these operations, he gives him a total margin of 150 million Brazilian riyals. For comparison purposes, Bemobi publishes a bill of around 240 million Brazilian riyals.
The acquisition also significantly increases EBITDA for Bemobi, which is currently around 100 million Brazilian riyals. M4U has an EBITDA of 55 to 60 million Brazilian riyals.
Bemobi is paying 125 million Brazilian riyals for the company, which is owned by Cilo, but the price could rise to 185 million Brazilian riyals by 2023 if “profit” targets are met.
Today’s treatment has a “homecoming” persona, as Bemobi and M4U have a common origin. In 2009, when M4U purchased, the Cilo was not interested in the digital services area, which underwent a sub-show process and was renamed into Bemobi.
With over 60 million customers worldwide, Bemobi is “Netflix for mobile apps and games” because you populate and deliver content from 250 app and game publishers – they are often the industry pioneers .
Working alongside carriers, the company pioneered an accessible package from apps and games, with partners like Disney, Viacom and Rovio, and it shouldn’t be forgotten, Galinha Pintadinha to the next. end.

The company has approximately 80 partners in 40 countries, which includes 2.2 billion users.
In order to achieve revenue from its channel outside app and game packages, Bemobi uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to monitor the consumption routine of mobile phone users and convert friction points into sales opportunities.
For example, when the balance of the prepaid mobile phone runs out, the Bemobi platform – Named Loop – offers the customer’s credit.
“Instead of becoming the animal drawn vehicle, we created a pipeline,” Riber said.
Bemobi’s relationship with operators usually starts with apps and games, then grew into LOP, a platform that provides other services such as microfinance – the vertical that M4U will now gain.
